I came to an important realization about blogging today: time is of the essence. About two weeks ago, I tried a new recipe and photographed the experiment somewhat extensively with every intention of documenting the journey online. While the biscuits were a rousing success and have even made their way into
a delightful stop motion animated feature by the very talented Oz Hatke, technical complications prevented the photos from making their way onto my computer and… well, have you seen any resulting entry? The same fate met a very ambitious response to an unsatisfying cultural critique months ago. I wanted my retort to come out perfect and, while the draft still sits in my documents, it hasn’t seen the light of public display.
Lesson on timeliness learned. On that note: I just bought the craziest Doritos!

I certainly didn’t go into Wawa looking for Doritos. One could argue that, sack of Taco Bell waiting in my car, I had the weakest possible argument for buying Doritos. But what could I do, confronted by a display case overflowing with strange new Doritos flavors? This combined two of my passions: Doritos and bizarre, no doubt soon to be discontinued, novelty snack food varieties. Every single bag’s text was in Spanish. Is this a marketing ploy, or are these special Hispanic-interest flavors? A brief Google search is inconclusive, tending toward the former. The "Sabritas" label hints at Mexican authenticity, while the
Sabritas website itself seems preoccupied with other concerns at the moment, like making light of police corruption. (NB: I don't speak Spanish.)
Anyhow, let’s get back to the matter at hand. After I opened the bag, the wonders continued. What manner of Doritos are these?!

See, that's where the "Dinamita" comes in. They're cartoonishly red, tubular sticks of flavor dynamite. There is no language barrier, because the chips are as close to pictograms as food can be.
If I were to dissect the flavor of these chips, I would say that they taste like Doritos. They are very strong: very spicy and very limey. The bag says that “They’re rolled to explode with flavor!” and indeed they do. These aren’t my favorite Doritos, but they possess a quality I value in salt and vinegar potato chips, viz., their flavor is so strong that I cannot eat too many of them, which is a very real issue where snack foods are concerned. There’s no question whether I’ll be able to save enough to share with friends. I will, however, be going back to that Wawa to try the remaining two Sabritas varieties while they last. Like unicorns in a verdant moonlit glade, these exotic chip flavors have a way of disappearing without notice into the ether from whence they came.
In other news: I'm working up to creating a blog with an actual unifying concept behind it, experimenting with another platform and working out the stylistic kinks right now. Look for it soon.

Oh man BUY ME THOSE DORITOS! I hope my Wawa has them toooo. Also what is this new platform you're going to use?? I hope it's an emo kid tumblr or something.

Oh my gosh, novelty limited time only snack food varieties! It's been too long. Remember that horrible "Holiday Spice" Pepsi? And Cassie's beloved Skittles flavored Sprite? If only I didn't have to spend real money on these things now and could just use up Meal Plan points like the good ol' days.
